Terms of Use

Effective: 2026-07-28 — applies to the Laptop Guard desktop app and related services.

These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and Sangbeom Ahn, the operator of Laptop Guard. By selecting “Accept,” activating a license, or using Laptop Guard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Important security notice.

Laptop Guard is a preventive, deterrent, monitoring, and notification tool. It is not an insurance product, emergency service, law-enforcement service, or guarantee against theft, unauthorized access, loss, damage, or data loss.

1. Eligibility and permitted use

You must have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You may install and use Laptop Guard only on devices that you own or are authorized to monitor. You are responsible for complying with applicable camera, surveillance, workplace, privacy, and notification laws.

2. License

Subject to payment, activation, and these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Laptop Guard. A license may be limited to the number of devices stated at purchase. You may not resell, sublicense, bypass activation controls, reverse engineer except where applicable law expressly permits it, or use the service unlawfully.

We may offer one seven-day free trial per eligible device. The trial starts when you select “Start 7-Day Free Trial,” requires an internet connection for verification, and ends automatically at the stated time. Reinstalling the app does not restart the trial. After the trial ends, a paid license key is required to continue using monitoring features.

3. Security limitations and your responsibilities

Laptop Guard does not guarantee that every incident will be prevented, detected, recorded, reported, located, or recovered. Operation may depend on camera availability, hardware, battery and power status, network connectivity, Windows permissions and settings, environmental conditions, and third-party services.

4. Camera, location, and alarm evidence

When armed, the app may process camera frames locally and, when an alarm triggers, upload a short clip and approximate IP-derived location to provide alarm evidence. IP-based location is approximate and may be inaccurate. Anyone with your license key may be able to access your alarm history, so keep the key private. Details are provided in our Privacy Policy.

5. Third-party services

Laptop Guard may depend on services operated by third parties, including Microsoft Windows, Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, IP-location providers, and optional Telegram services. Their availability and operation are outside our direct control and may change or be interrupted.

6. Purchases, activation, and refunds

Payments may be processed by Stripe or another clearly identified payment provider. Prices, taxes, device limits, and any refund terms shown at purchase form part of the transaction. Mandatory refund, cancellation, and consumer rights in your country remain unaffected. You are responsible for entering a valid email address so the license key and download information can be delivered.

7. Updates and availability

We may provide fixes, security updates, or feature changes. We may suspend or discontinue online functions where reasonably necessary, including for security, legal, or operational reasons. Where mandatory law requires notice, continued support, or a remedy, we will comply with that law.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Laptop Guard is provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every device or security situation. This section does not exclude any warranty, guarantee, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded in your country.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Laptop Guard and its operator are not liable for theft, attempted theft, unauthorized access, device or property damage, loss of data, loss of profits, missed or delayed alerts, unavailable or incomplete recordings, inaccurate location estimates, third-party service failures, or failure to recover a device where the loss was not caused by our breach of a legal duty.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where such liability cannot legally be excluded, violation of applicable data-protection law, or any mandatory consumer right or remedy.

10. Termination

You may stop using and uninstall Laptop Guard at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for fraud, abuse, unlawful use, attempts to bypass licensing, or material breach of these Terms, subject to applicable law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination remain in effect.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections or courts available under the laws of your country of residence.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms for legal, security, or service changes. The effective date will be updated, and the app may ask you to accept a materially revised version before continued use.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to [email protected].
