Laptop Guard is an anti-theft app: it watches your laptop's camera and motion sensors while "armed" and raises an alarm with photo/video evidence if something suspicious happens. Because that core function involves your camera and location, this page explains exactly what is collected, why, and for how long.

While armed, Laptop Guard accesses the camera and processes a short rolling buffer locally so an alarm clip can include the moments immediately before a trigger. Those frames are not uploaded unless an alarm triggers. While disarmed, Laptop Guard does not monitor the camera. Laptop Guard does not record microphone audio or inspect your personal files. Approximate location is requested only after an alarm trigger.
Alarm clips and associated location data are uploaded to our backend hosted on Cloudflare and tied to your license key so they can be viewed from any device at laptop-guard.com/manage.html. This lets you check for evidence even if the laptop itself was taken. Anyone who has your license key may be able to access this history, so keep the key private. Clips and associated location data are automatically deleted after 30 days.
License and activation records are retained while your license remains active and as reasonably necessary to provide support, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Trial records, including a one-way hash derived from the device ID, may be retained after trial expiry to prevent repeated trials on the same device. Purchase records may be retained for the period required by tax, accounting, and consumer-protection law. Discount-signup records are retained until you withdraw your request, ask us to delete them, or they are no longer needed for the stated purpose.
If you choose to connect your own Telegram bot in the app's settings, alarm clips are also sent directly to that bot — meaning to Telegram's servers, under Telegram's own privacy policy, using credentials only you control. This is off by default and entirely optional.
We do not sell your personal data. We use basic campaign attribution to understand which Laptop Guard promotions lead to signups or purchases, but we do not embed third-party advertising trackers in the desktop app.
Our service providers may process data outside your country. Where required, they use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so keep your license key and optional Telegram credentials private.
Laptop Guard is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
